The standard.

Certified in Applied AI certifies that a person can use AI to do real work: think with it, work with it and automate with it. It is for people who use AI in their work, not engineers. Level: Foundational.

Think with AI

  1. 01Can explain in plain terms what AI is and how it produces its answers.
  2. 02Can recognize where AI fails, including errors and invented facts.
  3. 03Can direct AI with clear instructions, context and constraints.
  4. 04Can decide when AI is the right tool for a task and when it is not.

Work with AI

  1. 05Can apply AI to their own writing and communication.
  2. 06Can use AI for research and analysis, and check what it returns.
  3. 07Can use AI to support decisions while keeping their own judgment.
  4. 08Can build repeatable workflows that save time on real work.

Automate with AI

  1. 09Can identify repetitive tasks that are worth automating.
  2. 10Can chain tools together so a task runs end to end.
  3. 11Can automate routine busywork without writing code.
  4. 12Can turn their best work into a process that runs on repeat.

Standard v1.0 · Published November 2026 · Reviewed annually.

Validity

Each credential shows its issued date and is current through one year from that date. Annual renewal keeps it current. Lapsed credentials remain on the Registry, marked lapsed.
